Pre-Assesment Questions:
Laura: I wanted to study the culture of single parents because this is a culture that continues to grow in our society. I am not familiar with this particular culture, and I hope that doing this presentation will help me learn more about the challenges that single parents face, as well as how to approach and relate to children of single parents in my classroom. Some concerns that I have at this point are finding enough information and material to cover an hour long presentation, and being able to present it in a way that is interesting to the rest of the class. As a "gold" personality, I believe that the biggest assets I will bring to the group are my organization skills, and the ability to keep the group members on track.

Josh Kirchner:

I selected this topic because being a single parent almost seems to be the norm now instead of the exception and I am hoping I might find a couple of answers to that in my researching this topic. As a child who was raised mostly by a single parent I hope I can bring some insight into the group on this subject and how the child of a single parent looks at things. I hope to gain even more insight that will give me an edge teaching students of single parents in the future.

I have concerns that my group and I will not be able to plan an entertaining yet informative lesson for the class. While I do have a fear of the upcoming lesson I believe my greatest strength I can bring to my group is my originality along with my fearlessness in trying new things and facing my class.
